On Saturday 24th August Swanage Pier welcomes local bands and choirs on to the Pier for a full day of music, with the perfect setting of the Pier and Swanage in the background, it is set to be a great day of music for all.
We start the day with Chantoozy, made up of singer Louise Gee and pianist Bruce Evans, a duo with a love of cool Jazz, Blues and Soul. Both are seasoned performers having played with many bands over the years but now play their distinctive brand of tunes from the Great American Song Book and many original compositions.
We follow this with Swanage’s Premier sea shanty group, Kelp!, singing shanties to anyone who gets too close. Kelp! have been entertaining the people of Purbeck for several years, raising money local charities.
Next up is the Red Herrings Ukulele Band, a group of local ukulele enthusiasts who come together to play for fun at charity events and concerts. The band was formed earlier this year after several of its members played a one-off charity gig in Swanage and decided to keep the momentum going, with a maiden performance at the Swanage Fish Festival in June - hence the inspiration for the band's fishy name.
We finish the day Little Rock, a small group of ladies from Harmony Rocks choir who sing weekly and support different charities with twice yearly concerts, singing pop, choral and showstoppers.
All this music for the price of normal admission to the Pier, it is going to be a great day of music on the Pier.
