Students from Poole and Bournemouth Landsdowns College took part in a sponsored walk in aid of Swanage Pier on Friday 14th June, as part of their level 3 tourism course event assignment.
The students organised all elements of the walk, including choosing the route from Swanage Pier to Studland, taking in Old Harry Rocks and the beautiful views of the Jurassic Coast.
Students who did not wish to walk, did a chain gain along the Pier, which involved tying themselves together with rope and walking up and down the Pier.
Lisa Ellis, Lecturer in Hospitality & Tourism said -
"Glorious views, selfies along the route, laughter and blisters - what an amazing way to spend a way raising money for such a worthy, local cause! Travel & Tourism students from Bournemouth & Poole College raised over £400 to support their local charity, also assisting in them achieving their Events unit as one of the final parts of their course. Walking 4.7 miles from Swanage to Studland, assisted by wonderful volunteers from Swanage Pier Trust, they all pulled together and encouraged each other and every one of them completed the walk. Well done students, your tutors are proud!"
