Board of Trustees

Bill Law - Chair 

Bill is a retired Chartered Accountant. He is a Director of Sandbourne Housing Association and was Treasurer and Commodore of Parkstone Yacht Club.

For over 20 years, Bill has been involved with Swanage Pier Trust providing extensive support and advice. Throughout his career and during his time with the Yacht Club, he has had firsthand experience of large ‘third sector’ businesses.

Rebecca Mack 

Rebecca is a Chartered Patent Attorney with extensive legal expertise and community engagement experience. She has also been involved in retail banking with HSBC and fundraising for the RNLI.

Rebecca is a member of the Swanage Carnival committee and has helped to organise more than 100 events over the years. She continues to be a volunteer lifeboat crew member and a press officer for Swanage Lifeboat Station.

Alison Turner 

Alison is a highly experienced Development Manager with a BSc in Maths and Oceanography. She has been optimising IT systems and processes for over 25 years.

Alison has been diving under the Pier for over 20 years and has lived in Swanage for nearly a decade. As a trustee, she aims to help develop an IT based maintenance system that will help protect the Pier in years to come.

Alison Pettitt - Treasurer 

Alison is a certified chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience as a Chief Finance Officer for military, chemical, software and engineering businesses. Alison now runs a consultancy offering fractional CFO services to start-ups and robust financial planning to help small businesses to raise investment.

Alison is a keen scuba diver, underwater photographer and a member of the Isle of Purbeck Sub Aqua Club. She also volunteers as an Assistant Pier Master.

Howard Potter 

Howard is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Town Planner. He has managed high profile projects largely concerned with private and public sector transport infrastructure, including the London Docklands Transport Strategy. He has also conducted studies managing land and transport overseas.

Howard is also a yachtsman and a keen sailor of racing dinghies, he currently represents Swanage Sailing Club on the board.

Gary Suttle 

Gary is the director of a Swanage based accountancy firm. For over 32 years, he was a Town, District and Unitary Councillor and has been Mayor of Swanage, District Council Leader, Dorset Council Deputy Leader and finance portfolio holder.

Gary currently represents Dorset Council on the board. Over the years, he has been involved in the financial operations and the service delivery of all three councils in Dorset.
