What is a QR Code?
A machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing links to websites and or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone:

You can download a QR code reader app on to your smart phone for free.
The QR code trail on the pier tells the history of the pier and information about its natural history using the latest QR Code technology.
Enjoy exploring the pier via our new QR code trail, where you can find out about the heritage and history of the Pier and its importance in Swanage’s history and its wildlife. Simply scan your smart phone camera over the QR code to read the information.
QR code stations to look for on the Pier are:

- Marine Villas
- Sea bathing at Swanage
- Steamers and stone
- End of the pier
- Swanage’s two piers
- Wrecks off Swanage
- Swanage and the arts
- Bird life
There are also QR code points on the three information plinths that are situated on the Pier as well.
